Carrot Seed Oil Skincare

In honor of National Carrot Day (4/4/2022) today, I am making a few products using an old favorite, carrot seed oil. A long-time favorite of mine because of its ability to amp up my skin's natural glow. But, this power oil absorbs UVB light making it a key player in reducing hyperpigmentation. It is also an antifungal, antibacterial, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory making it a great weapon in your skin's defense against aging, blemishes, stress, and damaging free radicals.

Below you will find 3 recipes; All-Skin Serum, Aftersun Relief, and Anti-Cellulite Body Oil. Though I have used and love the All-Skin Serum and have relied on the added benefit of carrot seed oil for after-sun care, I have only tried the body oil this week. I will wait and update you on my thoughts after a month or two of testing it out. I even took a before picture in case this stuff really is magic! Check back in June for an update!

All-Skin Serum

INGREDIENTS:

  • 15 drops Carrot Seed Oil

  • 10 drops Melaleuca (Tea Tree Oil)

  • 10 drops Geranium

  • 10 drops Copaiba

  • 4 drops Frankincense

  • Jojoba Oil

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Add all oils to a 15 mL bottle (I love this pump bottle for many of my concoctions)

  2. Shake well to blend essential oils

  3. Fill the bottle to the top with jojoba oil

  4. Shake again and before each use

  5. Use daily in the morning and evening - don't forget your neck and chest!

**Applying with a reusable cotton round is best (or disposable cotton but follow that link for the reusable rounds that I love because they come with a bamboo holder and mesh washing bag). However, I use my fingers regularly.

After-Sun Relief

Being a Florida girl, I love the sun. But, after many skin issues and procedures due to all my time outside, I have become very intentional about keeping my skin and my family's skin protected while we play in the glorious sun. However, every once in a while, I falter and one of us gets a bit of a sunburn. When that happens, natural aloe gel is almost the best solution. To make it the best, try adding some carrot seed oil to that natural aloe gel to help boost the hydration your skin needs to repair from the sunburn.

INGREDIENTS:

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Put the desired amount of aloe gel in your palm

  2. Add a few drops (depends on how much aloe you have, but maybe 4-6 drops)

  3. Mix together in your palm then apply to sun-damaged skin.

Anti-Cellulite Body Oil

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 Cup Jojoba Oil

  • 1/4 Cup Rosehip Seed Oil

  • 15 Drops Juniper Berry Essential Oil

  • 30 Drops Grapefruit Essential Oil

  • 10 Drops Lemon Essential Oil

  • 10 Drops Geranium Essential Oil

  • 10 Drops Carrot Seed Oil

  • 2 Teaspoons Vitamin E Oil

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Place ingredients in a glass bottle with a pump spout or dropper

  2. Shake well each time to allow the oils to thoroughly coalesce

  3. Apply daily in an upward motion

**Add dry brushing to your routine before each shower to really bring benefit to the circulation and appearance of your legs, stomach, wherever!

I may be witchy, but I don't believe in magic, cellulite-vanishing potions. I do, however, know that this blend has already made my legs, butt, and stomach so much more hydrated and softer than they were a week ago. I also feel like the skin in all of those areas looks smoother and less 'spotty' (that's my word for the combination of colorings on my skin that seems to be comprised of veins, age spots, and freckles)

I just came across this recipe and will continue to use it while I am in Mexico for the next month of my yoga teacher training because I know I will need this superior hydration in the Mexican desert.

I found this recipe online and cannot refind the author/site where it came from. If you are the creator of this recipe, please reach out so I can give you proper credit and link to your site.
